Stellar-mass black holes in young massive and open stellar clusters V: comparisons with LIGO-Virgo merger rate densities. N. Lobo</a> In this paper, we consider black holes in the consistent Aoki-Gorji-Mukohyama theory of the four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (4D EGB) gravity in the presence of Born-Infeld (BI) nonlinear electrodynamics. We study several optical features of these black holes such as the shadow radius, energy emission rate and deflection angle, and analyse the effect of the coupling constants, the electric charge and cosmological constant on the considered optical quantities. Furthermore, we also employ the connection between the shadow radius and quasinormal modesRead More →

We estimated the volume of four of these smooth features by producing digital elevation models (DEMs) of four Galileo/SSI images. We used the shape-from-shading technique with special care to estimate the uncertainties on the produced DEMs and estimated feature volumes to be between ($5.7*10^{7}$ m$^{3}$ and ($2.7*10^{8}$Read More →

Detecting the Figure Rotation of Dark Matter Halos with Tidal Streams. Snyder</a> The dark matter halos that surround Milky Way-like galaxies in cosmological simulations are, to first order, triaxial. Nearly 30 years ago it was predicted that such triaxial dark matter halos should exhibit steady figure rotation or tumbling motions for durations of several gigayears. The angular frequency of figure rotation predicted by cosmological simulations is described by a log-normal distribution of pattern speed with a median value 0.15hkm/s/kpc (~ 0.15h rad/Gyr ~ 9h deg/Gyr) and a width of 0.83km/s/kpc. These patternRead More →
